Every day, whether we realize it or not, we’re leading others.
Our words, our actions, our plans, our dreams, the way we walk, talk, drive and act all represent a road map of sorts.
Are we leading people where they need to go?
Or are we leading them astray?
Do we handle stress by pointing back to the One who made it all?
Or do we mutter under our breath as we show others it’s ok to let storm clouds determine where we steer our lives?
“For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:30
Are we showing those who are following us the burden of ease in Christ?
Or are we showing them that it’s ok to crumble into sin when things don’t go according to our plans?
I don’t know about you, but all too often I find myself in the latter camp.
Today, I want to take a moment to remember, I’m alway leading someone somewhere. Whether it’s a child looking to a grownup for guidance, a peer looking for behavioral validation, a co-worker looking for structure and leadership or a random stranger desperately searching for the light in their dark day – our actions carve a wake through time that washes over everyone we encounter – in both real life and online.
What sort of water is your wake going to wash over those you encounter today?
Will they move ahead cleaner or muddier? Refreshed or mislead?
The first step to leading them home is to intentionally make every word and deed point back to Him.
It’s not easy, but the other choice is much harder…
